Applying to the Oklahoma State University

The Oklahoma State University is located in Stillwater, Oklahoma. It is a coeducational university that was founded in 1890. This was made possible through the land grant established under the Morril Act. The school was named Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College and focused on offering such courses and majors. Initially, classes were held in town churches until school buildings were erected for such purpose. The school changed its name to Oklahoma State University in order to reflect the expansion in terms of courses and degrees offered by the school. The Stillwater campus is the flagship campus of the Oklahoma State University System and has over 30,000 students as of the fall of 2009.

To date, the University remains to be one of the most awarded educational institutions in the country. It has been named as a Best Value college, and has been included in the list of top 100 colleges in the nation. The College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, the College of Veterinary Medicine and the College of Engineering have all accepted rewards and distinctions for having excellent academic programs.

Admission tips

The school offers numerous scholarship programs that one can avail of. So make sure that your grades are up to par with the school’s minimum requirements. The school’s honors program is an excellent one and you may want to opt for the program as well. However, the honors program entails a higher level of admission requirements like ACT scores of at least 27 or an SAT score of at least 1220.
If you opt to get in the regular way then attending extra GED classes would be a great way to earn more credits to be accepted.

When writing the college admissions essay, make sure to come up with a good topic or angle, and narrow down your ideas by doing an outline. Once you’ve created an outline, prepare a draft and jot down ideas. Proofread and edit your draft carefully, and look for areas for improvement. Always let others read your college admission essay.
